What is Music Therapy?

Music therapy is healthcare. Using music, a trained therapist can help improve a person's physical and mental health. Therapeutic use of music can address a wide range of physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs.

Music organizes movement in time and space, by creating a framework for people to move. The beat of music can help the brain instruct the body to move in more organized way, which helps with mobility as we get older.

As we age, we may begin to shuffle or struggle to walk in predicable or steady way. Practicing movement with music can counteract this decline.

Sharing music with other people helps with socialization and communication, as well as maintaining mental health.
